Advocacy

Is your street safe? Can you ride a pleasant, stress-free route to the store or to work? Can the neighborhood kids safely ride to school or to see their friends? Can your 80-year old grandfather safely ride around for exercise?

If the answer to any of those questions is "No," then we have more work to do. Proteus supports bike infrastructure improvements mostly through WABA, the Washington Area Bicyclist Association, which has recognized our shop with two "Bike Shop of the Year" awards and an "Advocate of the Year" honor. We helped found WABA's Prince George's Action Committee, which meets at 7:30pm on the second Tuesday of each month at the Hyattsville Town Hall. (We sometimes adjourn for food and beverages at Franklin's across the street after.) We are also members of Bike Maryland, which is active in funding battles for bike trails in the state legislature.

Our Latest Project:
A Greenbelt East Trail

WABA Action Committee for Prince George’s County
