Pax Adventure Fire Recovery Update, Update 5 July 24

NOTE -- Latest updates on insurance for customer bikes in bold below

Patuxent Adventure Center’s old shop in Solomons MD was destroyed in May by a devastating fire. Thankfully, no people (or pets from the adjacent vet clinic) were hurt. Here's a link to the Bay News story: https://www.thebaynet.com/articles/0521/advisory-solomons-building-fully-engulfed-in-fire-roads-closed.html.

PAC’s paddlesports rentals were not affected. Most of the kayaks and paddleboards were already positioned at the waterfront locations, and the truck and trailer were spared. Joey and Tyler will continue to run the paddle operation this summer, while also shuttling bikes and accessories down from College Park as needed.

The Leonardtown McIntosh Run location is open 10-5 Wednesday through Sunday for paddlesports rentals and sales, and bike-related pickups and dropoffs. Bike shoppers can order from the www.proteusbicycles.com online store and arrange pickup in Southern MD. The Leonardtown Wharf location is open the same hours for rentals by appointment at www.pacpaddle.com.

PAC’s new temporary phone number is 410-610-3541, and www.paxadventure.com and www.pacpaddle.com are still up and running. We will post updates on the websites and on social media as often as we can.

On July 12, we signed a long-term lease for our new location at 13372 HG Trueman Road (Solomons Island Road).  We're in the old Peppers Pet Pantry location, just down the street from the old shop. There's plenty of parking for cars and (soon) bikes, and great riding nearby. We will re-open in August.

INSURANCE UPDATE 7/24  Customers who have lost bikes in the fire have been notified of our insurance settlement. If you chose to submit first to your own homeowners or renters policy, you may need the report number from the Maryland fire marshal report: it's 04-21-012.

Thanks for all your support!
